RUMSFELD
A one-of-a-kind robotic synthesizer created by myself and Amelia Moore. A BASIC Stamp generates audio signals and sends them through a 1/4 inch jack to an amplifier. Seven buttons create programmed sound effects (series of sin/cosine waves and dialtones) RUMSFELD also measures its own voltage output and converts the discharge rate into a numeric pitch value. When the voltage is sent through a potentiometer (variable resistor), altering the resistance produces different discharge times, and the oscillating sound effect. The plexiglass casing pieces were cut by a laser cutter, and snap together like legos.
